‘Private vehicles to be regulated in Central Doha during World Cup’

The movement of private vehicles will be strictly regulated in Central Doha in order to ensure a smooth environment for public transport during the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022, an official has said. First-Lieutenant Khalid al-Mulla, head of the Technical Team of the Corniche Closure Committee at the Ministry of Interior (MoI), told Qatar Radio on Wednesday that there is a plan to reduce the number of vehicles in Central Doha during the tournament.

He said he plan will be in place on A-, B- and C-Ring roads along with inner roads in Central Doha. “The plan aims to ensure smooth traffic flow at intersections while facilitating the passage of processions, buses, players’ vehicles, FIFA vehicles and public vehicles to reach the Park & Ride stations.” The official also said there is also a plan to issue permits for emergency vehicles, adding that the details will be announced in the future.
