Job Purpose

Material Controllers are responsible for performing a full range of duties to manage the functions of the Material Warehouse which include but are not limited to receiving, processing, preservation, storing, and issuing of Materials / Spares related to Oil & Gas industry by following the approved Policies and Procedures.

Job Roles/Responsibilities

  • Receive inbound Materials/spares, inspect the condition, check Technical Specifications against the documents, and prepare Goods receipt/discrepancy report and the issue of Materials/spares against a request by ensuring the technical specifications are correct, packed properly in accordance with Material characteristics and prepare relevant documents such as Goods issue/shipment manifest.
  • Review and interpret certificates such as MTC, COA, COC, etc., and ensure that Materials are received with relevant certificates as per the Purchasing document. Ensure to keep the records and track the certificates for future reference.

What you will be doing:

  • Review CNRs (Complaint Notification Reports) for the Materials and resolve the discrepancies by referring to the relevant drawings, technical data sheet, cross-verification with the installed equipment, and in connection with end users & technical team in a timely manner.
  • Maintains regular Liaison with End users, inventory team, Warehouse Supervisors, and Material Integrity & Inspection team and conducts physical verification of Materials whenever required obtain feedback on materials’ full description, and condition, and liaises with the concerned team to report discrepancies if any.
  • Review Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS) and Technical Data Sheets provided to decide the Hazardous Material Classification based on the UN / NFPA / GHS classification system and assign storage requirements based on the Hazard class with adequate safety measures.
  • Identify Risks and Hazards applicable in planning the storage of Hazardous material in the Warehouse as per applicable statutory requirements.
  • Ensure strict compliance with safety practices and support the Safety Policies and Procedures. Adhere to ISO Policies, Procedures, and Work Instructions in support of a Quality Management System.

  • Conduct periodic HSE audits/checks in the warehouse and report accordingly and participate in department HSE Audits & Drills. Conduct toolbox talks and proper usage of tools & tackles and PPE. Assist warehouse supervisors with the resolution of HSE audit observations/findings.
  • Review, determine and track Key Performance Indicators (KPI) for the Warehouse to ensure the operations are in line with international standards & practices and to achieve department goals to ensure business continuity as defined.
  • Well-versed knowledge of Preservation practices followed in Oil & Gas industry and responsible to lead the preservation plan to protect the Materials in accordance with the characteristics of the Materials and the Procedures. Ensure proper Preservation plan and track records are maintained.
  • Generate and analyze the reports to identify the gaps for improvement and report to the Management periodically.
  • Shall be able to work under minimum supervision and perform activities in line with International Safety standards & methods followed in the Oil & Gas industry.
  • Review and plan routine activities based on the inbound/outbound volume and appropriate space management to store the Materials in a safe & secure manner and maintain good housekeeping to protect the assets.

Your experience and skills include:

  • Diploma in Engineering or higher in disciplines of Mechanical / Electrical / Instrumentation or equivalent from a recognized university/board.
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in Material Management and Warehouse Operations out of which a minimum of 5 years in the Oil & Gas sector in a supervisory position.
  • Familiar with the usage of Material Handling Equipment (MHE).
  • Knowledge and experience in Material Preservation standards followed in Oil & Gas industry.
