Pilgrims Start Flocking to Mina from Makkah Early on Wednesday

Pilgrims began their journey from Makkah to Mina early on Wednesday, Dhul Hijjah 8, to observe the Day of Tarwiyah, marking the start of the annual Hajj pilgrimage.
Following the tradition of Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him), they recite talbiyah and glorify God as they make their way to the Tent City.

Pilgrim Count
This year, hundreds of thousands of domestic pilgrims are joining more than 1.47 million foreign pilgrims from around the globe to perform Hajj.
Arrival and Transportation
- Dr. Mohammed Al-Qarni, director general of Hajj and Umrah at the General Transportation Center, stated that the arrival of international pilgrims in Makkah has been completed, and domestic pilgrims performed Tawaf Al-Qudum before heading to Mina.
- The movement of pilgrims was scheduled from 8:00 PM on Tuesday until 10:00 AM on Wednesday. The ascent from Mina to Arafat will begin via three modes of transportation:
- The Mashair train will carry 316,000 pilgrims.
- Multi-modal and traditional transportation will transport approximately 720,000 pilgrims.

Preparations at Al-Khayf Mosque
The Ministry of Islamic Affairs, Call and Guidance has completed preparations at Al-Khayf Mosque in Mina. Key features include:
- Spreading prayer rugs over an area of more than 27,000 square meters.
- Significant upgrades to air-conditioning and ventilation systems, including advanced cooling units with smart control systems.
Health and Safety Measures
In anticipation of high summer temperatures, Saudi authorities have implemented extensive arrangements for the safety and comfort of pilgrims:
- Dr. Abdullah Asir, deputy minister of health, announced that 50,000 healthcare workers and administrative staff have been mobilized for Hajj, a significant increase from previous years.
- Over 700 hospital beds are prepared, equipped with fans for treating severe heat-related illnesses, with a capacity increase of more than 60% compared to last year.
- Eng. Khaled Al-Tala’a, spokesman for the Ministry of Health, reported that three field hospitals are operational, alongside 71 emergency points. More than 98,000 health services have already been provided.
These comprehensive efforts aim to ensure that pilgrims can perform their rituals safely and comfortably during the Hajj season.
