About the role:

As a Social Media Manager, you will be responsible for managing Qatar Airways’ Global Social Media presence and maintaining Qatar Airways’ positive reputation in all digital media by developing social media campaigns and activations.

Key responsibilities of the job:

  • Support the development and manage the social media communication strategy to meet defined business goals for the airline and its subsidiaries, determining the level of investment and recommended choice of channels for each communication campaign. Ensure campaign delivery, performance and identified goals are being fulfilled as scheduled.
  • Working in collaboration with Social Media Content Manager and industry partners such as Google, Facebook, Twitter and other social media platforms to ensure Qatar Airways social media content strategy is updated on a regular basis and reflects the latest developments in the industry and in channel and platform usage, positioning and functionality.

  • Ensuring Qatar Airways is positioned as a leader in the field of social media usage in the airline industry, and that its channels provide a five-star experience within the corporate communications sphere through excellence in Social Media content and campaign management.
  • Oversee and manage the Qatar Airways Social Media Accounts and ensure a close working relationship with the PR team.
  • Managing Global influencers’ relationships ensuring Qatar Airways is at the forefront of their minds with online content.
  • Represents the liaison between QR and other local entities locally for Social Media.

  • Delivering and executing strategies to meet the business needs. Managing Global social media care queries and media requests.
  • Oversee campaign performance and performance analyses on a regular basis to optimize campaigns.
  • Analyse campaigns and translate qualitative data into recommendations and plans for revising the Social Media campaigns.
  • Build and grow social media following whilst driving higher engagement. Monitor the implementation of daily and annual plans as developed by Social Media team.

  • Conduct a competitive analysis by studying competitors on social media networks to benchmark on content, reach and engagement rates.
  • Provide reporting and real-time updates on breaking news and issues to Corporate Communications higher management for escalation as required.
  • Support key user departments and field offices with Social Media support for their promotions through campaign creation and execution to achieve greater awareness.

  • Ensure identified key social media platforms are kept up-to-date with the latest product news & information.
  • Be sensitive to the audience characteristics of each channel, understanding that one size does not fit all; all whilst maintaining a truly 5-star approach to communication.

Experience, Skills and Qualifications:

We are looking for experienced professional to join the Social Media team:

  • Minimum qualification of bachelor’s degree or equivalent is essential.
  • 6+ years of developing and managing the social media communication strategy for a multinational / global brand.

  • Previous experience of managing Global influencers’ relationships.
  • Previous experience of conducting competitive analysis by studying competitors on social media networks to benchmark on content, reach and engagement rates.
  • Previous experience of collaborating with industry partners such as Google, Facebook, Twitter and other social media platforms.
