Kingdom Arrests 18,669 Illegal Residents in One Week

Saudi authorities reported the arrest of 18,669 individuals in a single week for violating residency, work, and border security regulations, according to the Saudi Press Agency on Saturday.

Breakdown of Arrests

Among those apprehended, 11,813 faced charges related to residency law violations, while 4,366 were arrested for illegal border crossings. Additionally, 2,490 individuals were detained for labor-related infractions.

The report indicated that of the 1,497 people arrested while attempting to enter the Kingdom illegally, 69% were Ethiopian, 27% were Yemeni, and the remaining 4% were from other nationalities.

Furthermore, 59 individuals were caught trying to cross into neighboring countries, and 17 were detained for their involvement in transporting and harboring violators.

Legal Consequences

The Ministry of Interior has warned that individuals found facilitating illegal entry into the Kingdom—whether through transportation, shelter, or other means—could face severe penalties, including up to 15 years in prison, fines reaching SR1 million (approximately $260,000), and confiscation of vehicles and properties used in the violations.

Reporting Violations

Suspected violations can be reported by calling the toll-free number 911 in the Makkah and Riyadh regions, and 999 or 996 in other areas of the Kingdom.
