This trend is contributing to increased stress and a deteriorating work-life balance, particularly in the post-pandemic landscape.
Conducted by the insights agency Perspectus, the study found that nearly 76% of employees feel their work-life balance has worsened since COVID-19. Alarmingly, 90% of workers reported responding to work emails and calls outside of official hours, further compounding their stress.
The survey highlights that approximately 59% of employees struggle to disconnect from work, with many indicating that the expectation to work beyond official hours is prevalent.
A significant number expressed concerns that not putting in extra time could jeopardize their job security.
Younger professionals are particularly vocal about their dissatisfaction, with many stating they would consider quitting if a better work-life balance is not attainable.
Additionally, nearly half of the respondents indicated they would accept a pay cut for a shorter workweek, with 66% of younger workers favoring a four-day workweek.
As competition for talent increases in the UAE, experts suggest that employers may need to reassess their practices to retain satisfied employees.
