What Are the Expected Eid Dates for Gulf Countries?

As the holy month of Ramadan draws to a close, Muslims across the Gulf countries eagerly await the arrival of the Eid festival.

The Emirates Astronomy Association has now provided clarity on the anticipated dates for these cherished celebrations, allowing the community to plan ahead accordingly.

Ibrahim Al Jarwan

According to the association’s chairman, Ibrahim Al Jarwan, the crescent moon signaling the start of Shawwal – the month that ushers in Eid al-Fitr – is expected to be sighted on Saturday, March 29, 2025, at 2:58 PM UAE time.

This means that Eid al-Fitr, the celebration marking the end of Ramadan, will commence on Monday, March 31, 2025.

It is expected that the crescent will not be visible, making Sunday the last day of Ramadan. Therefore, the first day of Shawwal and the start of Eid al-Fitr will be on Monday, March 31.

The announcement also sheds light on the timing of Eid al-Adha, the festival of sacrifice that falls later in the year. Al Jarwan noted that, based on astronomical calculations, the first day of Eid al-Adha is projected to be observed on Friday, June 6, 2025 across the Gulf region.

This timely information allows Muslims in the region to make necessary preparations and arrangements to fully immerse themselves in the spirit of these cherished religious celebrations.

As the community eagerly awaits the arrival of Eid, the revealed dates provide a clear roadmap for the festivities to come.
