PM Modi had been scheduled to stay in Jeddah from April 22–23, but the trip was cut short due to the Pahalgam terrorist attack. He returned within half a day, skipping the official state dinner.
Records show that the Saudi trip was the most expensive among Modi’s recent foreign visits, surpassing his France (₹25.59 crore over 4 days), US (₹16.54 crore, 1 day), and Thailand (₹4.92 crore, 1 day) trips.
By comparison, former PM Manmohan Singh’s foreign visits were significantly cheaper, with his 2011 US visit costing ₹10.74 crore and 2013 Russia trip ₹9.95 crore.
The MEA and PMO have yet to comment on the revelation.
