Ibrahim Abdullah Al-Harami, Director of the Technical Affairs Department at Doha Municipality, articulated the objectives of this campaign during a recent appearance on Qatar TV. “The primary aim is to maintain the architectural cohesion and visual identity of our neighborhoods,” he explained.

Al-Harami underscored that unauthorized modifications often compromise structural integrity and pose substantial risks to residents.

The focus of the initiative is specifically on illegal partitions and unplanned structural changes, which can lead to serious safety hazards.

Mohammed Sultan Al-Shahwani, Assistant Director of the Inspection Department, emphasized that curbing the subdivision of villas and preventing the misuse of family housing for worker accommodation are critical priorities.

“By addressing these concerns, we aim to mitigate structural vulnerabilities and protect the rights of residents,” he stated.

Prior to launching any field operations, municipal inspection teams carry out comprehensive surveys to discreetly identify and document violations without notifying property owners.

This methodical approach ensures transparency and accuracy, effectively preventing attempts to hide illegal modifications.

In a recent collaborative evening campaign involving the Qatar General Electricity and Water Corporation (Kahramaa) and the Ministry of Interior’s Criminal Investigation Department, ten buildings were identified as violating municipal regulations.

These violations included illegal internal partitions and the unauthorized housing of workers in areas designated exclusively for families.

Officials have reaffirmed their commitment to regular collaborative efforts to ensure adherence to municipal laws and building codes.

This initiative is not merely about enforcement; it is fundamentally about ensuring resident safety, preserving urban harmony, and facilitating sustainable development as Doha continues to evolve.

As the city expands, the importance of maintaining its architectural identity and creating a balanced residential environment remains a top priority for the Municipality.
