UAE: How to Replace a Lost, Stolen, or Damaged Emirates ID

Residents in the UAE can now swiftly replace their lost, stolen, or damaged Emirates ID using their smartphones, thanks to a streamlined process through the official UAEICP app.

This service, developed by the Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs and Port Security (ICP), allows users to apply for a replacement within minutes.

The first step in the process is to report the incident at the nearest ICP Customer Happiness Centre. This ensures that the lost or stolen card is deactivated to prevent misuse.

If the ID is damaged, residents should bring the damaged card with them; for a lost or stolen ID, a copy or confirmation of the ID number can be obtained from ICP.

Applicants must prepare several documents, including their original passport, a valid passport copy, a copy of their residence visa, and a recent passport-sized photo. Additional documents may be required based on the applicant’s residency status.

To apply for a replacement, users should download the UAEICP app, sign in with UAE Pass for faster processing, and follow the on-screen instructions to complete the application.

The app will guide users through entering their personal information, uploading documents, and making the required payment of AED 451.40, which covers issuance and service fees.

Once the application is submitted, residents can track its status through the ICP website. Upon approval, they will receive an SMS notification from Emirates Post or Zajel regarding collection or delivery details.

It is important to note that the replacement Emirates ID will retain the same expiry date as the original card. This efficient online process aims to simplify the experience for UAE residents dealing with lost or damaged identification.
