How to Sponsor Your Parents for a Dubai Residence Visa

DUBAI – Residents in Dubai looking to bring their parents closer can now navigate the sponsorship process for a residence visa with ease.

The procedure involves meeting specific eligibility criteria, including a minimum salary requirement, and submitting essential documentation.

To qualify, sponsors must earn a minimum salary of AED 10,000 per month and have suitable accommodation, such as a two- or three-bedroom apartment, supported by a valid Ejari rental contract.

A refundable security deposit of AED 5,000 is also required upon approval of the residence visa.

Required Documents from the Sponsor:

  • Valid Emirates ID
  • Passport copy
  • Dubai residence visa copy
  • Employment contract
  • Attested salary certificate
  • Three months’ bank statement
  • Consanguinity certificate (birth certificate proving relationship, attested and translated into Arabic)
  • Affidavit from the consulate confirming sponsorship responsibility
  • NOC from employer (for freezone employees)

Parents must submit:

  • Recent passport-sized photograph
  • Valid passport
  • Health insurance coverage in the UAE

If parents are already in Dubai on a visit visa, a ‘Change of Status’ application can be submitted.

The process also includes a medical fitness test, which parents must pass. Results are typically available within 24 to 48 hours. After the test, biometric verification is required at an ICP Customer Happiness Centre.

The total processing time for the Emirates ID and residency visa is generally around one week. It’s important to provide a valid mobile number and email for communication regarding the application status.
