In an extraordinary act of compassion, Noura Salem Al-Shammari, a Saudi woman from Taif, donated 80% of her liver to her husband’s second wife, Taghreed Awadh Al-Saadi, who had been battling kidney failure for years.

Background of the Donation
- Health Struggles: Taghreed had endured a long struggle with kidney failure, requiring years of dialysis and even traveling to the United States in search of treatment, but without success.
- Family Support: Upon her return to Saudi Arabia, Noura’s husband, Majed Baldah Al-Roqi, initially planned to donate one of his kidneys to Taghreed to alleviate her suffering.

Noura’s Remarkable Decision
Majed Al-Roqi shared his surprise when Noura offered to donate a significant portion of her liver instead. He said:
“I entrusted Um Turki [Noura] with our five children in case anything happened to me during surgery. But I was surprised when she announced she would donate 80 percent of her liver to Taghreed, purely for the sake of God.”
Successful Transplant
The transplant surgery was successful after medical tests confirmed tissue compatibility between the two women. Majed expressed his gratitude, stating:
“She came like rain to revive barren desert,” reflecting on his wife’s life-saving gift.
This act of selflessness has been hailed locally as a remarkable gesture of generosity, showcasing the strong bonds of family and compassion in the community.
