MoI announces 30-Days Grace Period to Rectify Expired Vehicle Registrations

In a move aimed at reinforcing road safety and regulatory compliance, Qatar’s Ministry of Interior has announced a 30-day period during which vehicle owners with expired registrations must rectify their legal status.

The grace period, which began on July 27, 2025, provides a final opportunity to renew registrations without facing legal repercussions.

The directive, issued by the General Directorate of Traffic, applies to vehicles whose registrations have surpassed the legally permitted validity outlined in Article 11 of Law No. 19 of 2007 on the issuance of the Traffic Law.

According to officials, failure to renew expired registrations within this specified timeframe will result in legal action, including potential penalties as prescribed by Qatari law.

Authorities stressed that the initiative is part of a broader national effort to ensure all vehicles operating on Qatar’s roads are legally compliant and roadworthy. This measure is also intended to streamline traffic management and reduce risks associated with unregistered vehicles.

Vehicle owners are strongly encouraged to utilise the available renewal platforms—including the Metrash2 mobile application, online portals, and direct visits to traffic service centres—to complete the registration process promptly.

The Ministry further emphasised that no additional leniency will be granted beyond the 30-day window, and violators will be subject to enforcement procedures thereafter.

The Ministry of Interior has called on all affected individuals to take immediate action, highlighting the importance of adherence to traffic regulations in maintaining public safety and legal integrity on Qatar’s roads.
