Dubai: RTA Expands Vehicle Inspection Booking to All Dubai Centres

Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has announced the activation of a Vehicle Inspection Appointment Booking service through the ‘RTA Dubai’ app and on the website, effective June 2, 2025.

This service will be mandatory for all vehicle inspections at technical testing centres across the emirate.

Customers preferring to visit without an appointment can still access a walk-in service at 19 centres, though this will incur an additional fee of AED 100.

The RTA aims to enhance customer satisfaction and reduce waiting times by implementing this system, which was successfully piloted at the Tasjeel centres in Al Qusais and Al Barsha.

The pilot phase demonstrated a significant reduction in average waiting times—approximately 46%—and a 15% decrease in occupancy rates at these centres. Overall, 52% of customers opted for the pre-booking system during the trial.

Qais Al Farsi, Director of Vehicle Licensing at RTA, emphasized that the expanded service will streamline operations and improve overall efficiency, particularly during peak hours.

Notably, vehicles owned by seniors and people of determination are exempt from the appointment requirement.

A total of 27 technical testing centres in Dubai now require appointments for vehicle inspections via the RTA Dubai app or website, while the Tasjeel Hatta centre remains exempt from this requirement.
