As Bangladesh and the UAE strengthen their economic relationship, discussions are underway to ease visa requirements for Bangladeshi nationals.

Currently, the Bangladeshi population in the UAE stands at approximately one million, a figure that has remained stable due to existing visa complications.

Rashedujjaman expressed optimism about the ongoing discussions with the UAE government, emphasizing the desire to see more Bangladeshi professionals and entrepreneurs actively contributing to the UAE’s economic landscape.

“We want to see Bangladeshi nationals become a part of UAE’s success story,” he stated, underlining the vital role these individuals play across various industries.

In addition to visa discussions, the consul-general announced new consular initiatives aimed at better serving the Bangladeshi community.

The consulate is now providing on-the-spot services three days a week across different emirates, making it easier for workers who may struggle to visit the consulate in person.

Moreover, comprehensive discussions regarding a Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA) are also in their early stages.

With bilateral trade currently around $1.5 billion, successful CEPA negotiations could significantly boost trade and investment opportunities, particularly in sectors like ICT, renewable energy, and agro-processing.

As both nations work towards enhancing ties, the potential easing of visa regulations could pave the way for a more integrated and prosperous future for Bangladeshi nationals in the UAE.
