Sheikh Dr. Salah Al-Budair Arrives in the Maldives: See Pics

His Eminence Sheikh Dr. Salah Al-Budair, Imam of Masjid Al-Nabawi in Madinah, Saudi Arabia, arrived in the Maldives this afternoon on an official visit.

His Eminence Sheikh Dr. Salah Al-Budair, Imam of Masjid Al-Nabawi, met with His Eminence Sheikh Dr. Ismail Mohamed—the first Maldivian scholar to graduate from the Islamic University of Madinah.

He received a warm welcome at Velana International Airport, where he was greeted with a red carpet reception by:

  • Dr. Mohamed Shaheem Ali Saeed, Minister of Islamic Affairs
  • Sheikh Mohamed Lateef, Chief Imam of the Islamic Center
  • Senior officials from the Ministry

Purpose of the Visit

This visit is conducted at the invitation of the Ministry of Islamic Affairs, in consultation with President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu.

It is part of the ongoing initiative to strengthen religious ties and bring prominent Islamic scholars to the Maldives.

The visit has also been graciously permitted by King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques.

Itinerary Highlights

During his stay, Sheikh Dr. Al-Budair is scheduled to:

  • Pay a courtesy call on President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu.
  • Meet with the Minister of Islamic Affairs and members of the Supreme Council for Islamic Fatwa.
  • Engage with young preachers, Hafiz, and Imams across the country.
  • Interact with Maldivian religious scholars.
  • Visit the National Center for the Holy Quran and various private institutions dedicated to Quran memorization.
  • Make an official visit to the King Salman Mosque in Malé, which received support from the Saudi government.

Prayer Services and Lectures

Sheikh Dr. Al-Budair will lead several prayer services during his visit:

  • Maghrib and Isha prayers at King Salman Mosque on Wednesday, April 23.
  • Isha prayer at the Islamic Center on Thursday, April 24, followed by a special religious lecture.
  • Jumu’ah (Friday) prayer at the Islamic Center on Friday, April 25.
