Dubai’s New Salik Gates and Tolls Raise Commuting Costs

Dubai residents are feeling the financial impact of higher Salik tolls and increased parking fees, which have significantly raised their monthly commuting costs.

For instance, Najeeb ul Huq, a sales executive, noted that his monthly fuel expenses have surged from Dh700 to Dh1,300, largely due to increased travel demands and Salik charges.
Similarly, Mohammed AbuNail, a marketing executive, has seen his daily Salik costs nearly double from Dh8-12 to over Dh24.

The rise in vehicle insurance costs has also contributed to the overall increase in commuting expenses. Many residents are now adjusting their budgets to accommodate the new parking pricing during peak hours, adding to their financial strain.
As traffic congestion continues to escalate, many drivers are experiencing higher fuel consumption, exacerbated by longer idling times. Residents express concern over these rising costs and their impact on their monthly budgets.
