This also took effect from today, July 1 and will last until September 15, 2022.
Several food delivery companies in Qatar took to social media and welcomed this measure.
On Instagram, Talabat captioned: “As per Qatar Ministry of Labor communication, the delivery sector will start delivering orders by car from 10am – 3:30pm from 1 July till 15 September.”
“We welcome initiatives that ensure rider wellbeing, especially during summer, and will continue to collaborate with the government to ensure their requirements are always met,” the company further stated.
On the otherhand, Snoonu also acknowledged the latest rule by relaunching its initiative called “No Riders Under the Sun 2”.
The measure is also in line with the Ministerial Decree No. 17 of 2021 which extended the legal working hours in outdoor spaces from June 1 to September 15, during which outdoor work is prohibited from 10 am to 3:30pm.
The legislation extended the summer working regulations by six weeks which allows workers protection from heat stress.
The decree further states that workers must have access to heat stress training, access to personal protection equipment, and annual health checks.
“Similarly, all work must stop if the wet-bulb globe temperature (WBGT) rises beyond 32.1, taking into consideration more than ambient temperature,” according to labor reforms published on the official website of GCO.
