Main Suspect in Killing of Saudi Student Charged With Premeditated Murder

British prosecutors have formally charged Chaz Corrigan, the main suspect in the killing of Saudi scholarship student Mohammed Al-Qassim, with premeditated murder and possession of a bladed weapon in a public place.

Corrigan will face charges at Cambridge Crown Court on Monday, where he is expected to either plead guilty or contest the charges. Two other defendants linked to the case will appear in court at a later date.
Al-Qassim, a 20-year-old from Makkah, was fatally stabbed on August 1 in a park south of Cambridge during his 10-week study program in the UK. He died instantly from a deep stab wound to the neck measuring 11.5 centimeters.

Following his death, Al-Qassim’s body was repatriated to Saudi Arabia, where funeral prayers were held at the Grand Mosque in Makkah before his burial.
The case has drawn widespread attention in both Saudi Arabia and the UK, highlighting concerns over student safety abroad.
