The Green Visa is part of the UAE’s revamped visa system, which was implemented in 2022. It offers several advantages, including the ability for visa holders to sponsor first-degree relatives and a longer grace period of up to six months after visa cancellation.
There are three categories under the Green Visa: skilled workers, self-employed individuals, and investors or partners in commercial activities.
For those applying under the skilled worker category, it is recommended not to cancel any existing residence permits until the Green Residence permit is obtained from the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation (MOHRE).

To qualify, applicants must hold a high-level skilled worker permit from MOHRE with an approved employment contract, meet specific salary requirements (minimum Dh15,000), and possess at least a bachelor’s degree or equivalent.
Required documents include a personal photo, a valid passport, a work permit, an employment contract, and a salary certificate or bank statement.
Applications can be submitted through Amer Centres in Dubai or online via the General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs (GDRFA) website.
The online process involves creating an account, filling out an application form, and submitting the necessary documents.
The total fee for the Green Visa application is Dh200, with additional charges applicable if the applicant is already in the UAE.
It is important for applicants to keep track of their application status, as any missing documents must be submitted within 30 days to avoid cancellation.
For the most accurate and up-to-date information, individuals are encouraged to contact the relevant immigration authorities.
