Dubai Police have issued a warning about the risks associated with using public Wi-Fi, particularly in popular locations like cafés and malls.

To enhance cybersecurity awareness, Dubai Police’s ‘E-Crime Hub’ advises users to avoid accessing sensitive data, such as banking information or work emails, when connected to public Wi-Fi.
They recommend verifying the official Wi-Fi network name with venue staff before connecting and being cautious of networks with similar names or those that require no password.
Key warning signs to watch for include unsecure connection alerts, pop-ups requesting personal information, and multiple networks with similar names.
Users are encouraged to turn off file sharing and Bluetooth when not needed and to use a Virtual Private Network (VPN) for added security.
By taking these precautions, users can safely navigate public Wi-Fi in Dubai while protecting their data from potential threats.
