Expats Convicted of Dangerous Traffic Violations to Face Deportation from Saudi Arabia

Saudi authorities have approved amendments to the Traffic Law that mandate the deportation of non-Saudis if a final court ruling convicts them of committing traffic violations that endanger public safety.

According to sources cited by Okaz/Saudi Gazette, deported violators will also face a ban on re-entry into the Kingdom. The move comes as part of regulations coordinated between the Ministry of Interior, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Justice, and the Public Prosecution.
Stricter Penalties Introduced

- Second violation (within one year): violators will receive the maximum fine.
- Third violation (within the same year): the violator will be referred to court, which may impose a prison sentence of up to one year, unless the fine is doubled instead.
The updated regulations also outline specific traffic offenses considered a threat to public safety, along with the legal procedures for referring violators to court.
