Ashok Leyland, part of the Hinduja Group, is well-known in the Gulf region, particularly for its buses, which are widely used as school buses in the UAE. The company also operates an assembly line for buses in Ras Al Khaimah, strengthening its regional footprint.

With the new Qatar dealership, Famco will offer the full portfolio of Ashok Leyland’s commercial vehicles, including Falcon and Oyster buses, Boss and Partner light- and medium-duty trucks, as well as Captain heavy-duty trucks.
Ramez Hamdan, Managing Director of Al-Futtaim Industrial Equipment, said the partnership reflects a shared ambition to expand across the Middle East. “The success of this collaboration in Qatar reinforces our vision to grow together across the region. We are also in discussions with Ashok Leyland on further market opportunities,” he noted.
Hamdan highlighted that the GCC’s rising demand for commercial vehicles is driven by infrastructure projects, logistics expansion, public transport growth, and urban mobility needs. “For Al-Futtaim and Famco, this represents a clear opportunity to strengthen our presence across the GCC,” he added.
The deal also follows Al-Futtaim Group’s recent SR2.5 billion acquisition of a stake in Saudi retail company Cenomi, reflecting the conglomerate’s growing interest in strategic regional investments.
