Deputy Emir of Riyadh, Prince Mohammed bin Abdulrahman, recently showcased the Kingdom’s advancements in autonomous vehicle technology by riding a self-driving car to King Khalid International Airport. Accompanied by Minister of Transport and Logistics Services, Saleh Al-Jasser, the journey marked a significant step in the first-phase rollout of autonomous vehicle services in Riyadh.

- Prince Mohammed toured the expansion projects at International Terminal 2 and observed ongoing developments at Terminal 1.

Capacity Expansion
- Al-Jasser highlighted that the developments at Terminals 1 and 2 will increase the airport’s capacity to accommodate 14 million additional passengers annually.
- With these projects, the overall capacity of King Khalid International Airport will rise to approximately 56 million passengers per year.
Future Prospects
- The Minister emphasized that these expansions lay the groundwork for the King Salman International Airport, anticipated to be the largest in the world by 2030, initially accommodating over 100 million passengers and scaling to 185 million by 2050.

Al-Jasser noted that these infrastructure investments are crucial for reinforcing Riyadh’s role as a global logistics hub and enhancing its economic footprint in cargo, logistics, travel, transport, tourism, and trade.
