Key Updates

Reporting Absences

  • Employers can only submit a request to mark a worker as absent if:
    • The worker’s residency permit (Iqama) is valid for at least 60 days.
    • The worker has no active employment contract at the time of the request.

Grace Period for Workers

  • Once a worker’s status changes to “disconnected from work,” they have a 60-day window to choose one of the following options:
    • Transfer to another employer
    • Exit the Kingdom
    • Re-contract with the same company
  • If no action is taken within this period, the worker will be automatically marked as “absent from work” and removed from the company’s records.

Contract Termination

  • The updated system stipulates that if the notice period in a work contract ends—regardless of whether it’s by the employer’s or worker’s decision—the contract will be marked as “terminated.”

Notification to Authorities

  • If the worker fails to take action within the grace period, an automatic notification will be sent to the relevant authorities at the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Development (MHRSD) and the Ministry of Interior.

Additional Features

  • The Qiwa platform allows workers to obtain free salary definition certificates through their Qiwa Individuals account.
    • For currently employed workers, the certificate will reflect current employment information.
    • For former roles, workers can request a service certificate documenting previous positions.

Accessing Employment Certificates

To generate a salary certificate or a certificate of service, workers must:

  1. Log into their Qiwa Individuals account.
  2. Navigate to services.
  3. Select “Employment Certificates” and follow the steps.

The platform also supports enhancing CVs and increasing job competitiveness through official documentation of professional experience.
