Qatar Unveils Plans for Major Revamp of 18 Public Beaches
Qatar’s Ministry of Municipality has announced an extensive project aimed at revitalizing 18 public beaches across the nation.
This endeavor, spearheaded by the Director of Projects Management and Development Department, Abdulaziz Al Rumaihi, is being executed in collaboration with the Public Works Authority (Ashghal).
The project is set to unfold in phases, with the first phase focusing on eight key beaches located in Simaisma, Al Wakra, Sealine, Al Farkia, Al Ghariyah, Safa Al Touq, and Al Kharaij.

Al Rumaihi emphasized that this development is part of a broader strategy to improve the quality of life for residents and boost domestic tourism.
As the summer season approaches, the Ministry has implemented proactive measures to ensure that the beaches are well-prepared and equipped to handle increased visitor traffic.
This includes close coordination among maintenance teams and municipalities to maintain high service standards. The enhancements will introduce a range of new amenities designed to enrich the visitor experience.

These include the installation of 200 wooden umbrellas, with specific provisions for individuals with special needs, and the creation of 300 shaded seating areas to accommodate families and individuals alike.
Additionally, dedicated children’s play zones featuring safe sandy surfaces, as well as designated spaces for food establishments, will be established to foster a vibrant beach culture.
To promote these developments, the Ministry is also launching periodic marketing campaigns aimed at raising public awareness about the new facilities and promoting responsible beach usage.
Al Rumaihi noted that the Ministry is committed to maintaining cleanliness and safety, especially during peak seasons, with dedicated cleaning crews and first aid services available at major beaches.
Furthermore, the project will incorporate environmentally sustainable features, such as green spaces and solar-powered lighting, to enhance the aesthetic and functional appeal of these coastal areas.
As Qatar continues to invest in its public infrastructure, this beach revamp project stands as a testament to its commitment to enhancing community well-being and promoting a vibrant, enjoyable outdoor environment for all residents and visitors.
