Easy Step-by-Step Guide to Renew QID via Metrash2
In a significant move towards digital convenience, the process of renewing your Qatar ID (QID) has become simpler than ever thanks to the new Metrash mobile application.
This essential document, also known as the Residence Permit (RP), serves as a personal identification card for residents and is crucial for various legal activities, from applying for a driver’s license to obtaining a Hamad Health Card.

Residents can now renew their QID online, eliminating the need for lengthy paperwork and in-person visits.
Here’s a step-by-step guide to navigate the renewal process seamlessly:
- Log In: Start by logging into the Metrash app.
- Navigate to Residency: Select the “Residency” option from the home page.
- Choose Renewal: Click on “Residency procedures,” then select “Residency Renewal” from the drop-down menu.
- Select Individual: A list of individuals under your sponsorship will appear. Choose the person whose QID you wish to renew.
- Payment: You will be redirected to a payment page. After completing the payment, a confirmation of the residency permit renewal will be displayed.

Once the renewal is processed, Qatar Post will contact the sponsor within 48 hours to arrange for the delivery of the new QID.
Renewal Fees:
- QR 500 for family-sponsored individuals (1 year)
- QR 1,000 for company-sponsored employees (1 year)
- QR 300 for personal sponsorship (1 year)
Discounts are available for longer renewal periods, with additional delivery charges of QR 20.
It’s important to note that only sponsors can renew QIDs for those under their sponsorship, and renewals can be initiated up to three months before the expiry date.
A grace period of 90 days is granted for expired QIDs, after which a penalty of QR 10 per day applies.
