6 Key Updates for UAE Residents Starting July 2025

  1. Visa-Free Travel to Armenia: Beginning July 1, residents of GCC countries, including the UAE, will enjoy visa-free entry to Armenia for stays of up to 90 days. This change applies to those holding valid GCC residency permits with at least six months’ validity.
  2. Legalization of Tobacco-Free Nicotine Pouches: Starting July 29, the UAE will allow the sale of tobacco-free nicotine pouches. Designed to aid smoking cessation, these products deliver nicotine without tobacco or combustion, following new regulations set by the Cabinet.
  3. Flexible Workweek for Dubai Government Employees: The ‘Our Flexible Summer’ initiative will be implemented from July 1 to September 12, allowing Dubai government employees to adopt flexible working hours during the peak summer months while maintaining a standard five-day work week.
  4. Emiratisation Compliance Inspections: From July 1, the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation (MoHRE) will begin compliance checks for private sector companies with 50 or more employees, ensuring they meet mid-year Emiratisation targets. Companies that fail to comply may face fines.
  5. New Health Regulations in Dubai: At the end of July, new health laws will introduce changes to work and residency exams and driving licenses. The regulations aim to protect public health and improve healthcare access, particularly for young people and the elderly.
  6. School Summer Holidays: Most schools in the UAE will begin their summer break at the end of June or early July. In Dubai, private schools will start their holidays on June 30, resuming classes on August 25.
