UAE Midday Work Ban Starts Today: Fines Up to AED 50,000

The Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratization (MoHRE) has officially implemented the annual Midday Work Ban, which prohibits outdoor work under direct sunlight from 12:30 PM to 3:00 PM until September 15.

The Midday Work Ban is now in its 21st year, reflecting the UAE’s commitment to maintaining safe work environments in line with global health and safety standards.
Mohsen Al Nassi, Assistant Undersecretary for the Inspection and Compliance Sector, noted that compliance rates have exceeded 99% in previous years, showcasing the UAE’s dedication to safeguarding workers’ health.
Key Details of the Ban
- Duration: June 15 to September 15, 2025
- Prohibition Hours: 12:30 PM to 3:00 PM
- Fines: Companies violating the ban may face fines of AED 5,000 per offending worker, with a maximum penalty of AED 50,000 for multiple violations.

Awareness and Compliance
The Ministry actively conducts inspections and raises awareness about the importance of the ban through field visits to work sites and accommodations.
Employers are required to provide shaded rest areas, cooling equipment, ample drinking water, and first aid kits to ensure worker safety.
Exceptions to the ban apply for essential services that cannot be halted, such as emergency repairs or specific construction tasks that must be completed promptly.

Reporting Violations
The MoHRE encourages the public to report violations through its call center or official website, as part of its ongoing efforts to educate employers and workers about the ban’s significance.
With this initiative, the UAE continues to prioritize the welfare of its diverse workforce, reinforcing its position as a leader in labor protection and occupational safety.
