UAE to Enforce Outdoor Work Ban Beginning June 15

The UAE will implement a ban on outdoor work under direct sunlight from 12:30 PM to 3 PM starting June 15, continuing until September 15. This midday break initiative, now in its 21st year, aims to protect workers during the peak summer heat.
The Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation (MoHRE) will monitor compliance through inspections to ensure that no workers are made to work during the prohibited hours.

Companies that violate the rule may face fines of AED 5,000 per worker, with a maximum penalty of AED 50,000 for multiple violations.
During this period, employers are required to provide shaded areas and cooling equipment for workers, as well as adequate drinking water and hydration supplements.
Certain workers may be exempt from the ban if their tasks require continuous operation, such as asphalt laying or emergency repairs.
Residents are encouraged to report violations through the ministry’s hotline or smart application. The midday break initiative has seen significant success, with over 99% compliance recorded in previous years.
