As of now, over 44,000 vehicles in Sharjah have expired registrations, and owners are encouraged to resolve their outstanding fines.
Colonel Mohammad Alay Al Naqbi, Director General of the Traffic and Patrol Department, urged motorists to visit the Traffic and Licensing Services Center to begin the waiver process.

An application fee of AED 1,000 is required to apply for the fine waiver, though it may be waived under certain conditions, such as the owner’s death, long-term residency abroad, or if the vehicle has been abandoned.
Colonel Al Naqbi emphasized that motorists with unresolved fines will not be able to register or renew their vehicles until their traffic records are cleared.
The initiative reflects a broader effort to enhance road safety and provide drivers with a fresh start.
The decision to waive old fines was made during a recent meeting of the Sharjah Executive Council, chaired by Sheikh Abdullah bin Salem Al Qasimi.
The council’s decision specifies that all violations older than ten years, recorded by Sharjah Police, can be canceled under the outlined conditions.
