Introduced by the General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs (GDRFA) during Dubai AI Week, the initiative is currently available in the First and Business Class lounges at Terminal 3.
It employs advanced AI technologies for facial recognition, enabling up to ten passengers to complete passport control in under 15 seconds.
Lt Gen Mohammed Ahmed Al Marri, Director General of the GDRFA, highlighted that this system represents a “qualitative leap” in smart mobility.

It increases the throughput capacity while enhancing the overall satisfaction of travelers and airport staff.
The initiative builds on the insights gained from the smart tunnel project launched in 2020, which also utilized AI to expedite processing times.
The new system allows groups of travelers to pass through at once, relying solely on facial recognition without the need for physical documents.
Currently, the service is available for departing passengers, with plans to expand it to incoming travelers in the future. Once registered, a passenger’s data will be stored for subsequent use, further simplifying the travel process.
This pioneering step aligns with Dubai’s vision to improve the quality of life for travelers while making airport operations more efficient.
