Who Can Obtain the Visa?
Saudi Iqama holders can apply for a Bahrain on-arrival visa for themselves, their dependents, and legal domestic workers. However, family visit visa holders must obtain a Bahrain e-visa beforehand. To be eligible, the sponsor must accompany their dependents at the border.
Requirements for the Visa
For Iqama Holders:
- A passport valid for at least 6 months
- An original Iqama with a minimum validity of 3 months
- Valid vehicle insurance (if driving)
- An exit/re-entry visa that covers your stay in Bahrain
- A return ticket if traveling by air
For Family Visit Visa Holders:
- A passport valid for at least 6 months
- A valid multiple-entry family visit visa
- A printed copy of the Bahrain e-visa
Obtaining the Visa by Road
When entering Bahrain via the King Fahd Causeway, you will first pass through Saudi customs. Following this, you’ll need to:
- Pay a vehicle toll tax (BD 2.5 or SR 25).
- Get your passport stamped with the Bahrain visa.
Visa Validity
The on-arrival visa obtained by road is a multiple-entry visa valid for 180 days, allowing a maximum stay of 30 days per visit. Note that this visa is not extendable and is free of charge.
Best Time to Cross the Causeway
To avoid long waits, it’s best to cross the causeway during off-peak hours:
- Weekdays: Between 2 AM and 7 AM
- Weekends: Between 4 AM and 6 AM
Obtaining the Visa by Air
If you choose to fly into Bahrain, the process is slightly different. Upon arrival at the airport, follow these steps:
- Pay the visa fee (BD 25 or SR 250).
- Fill out the on-arrival visit visa application form available at the bank counter.
- Proceed to the eye-scanning and immigration counters with all required documents.
You can also opt for a single-entry visa online for a reduced fee of BD 9 or SR 90.
Visa Validity
The on-arrival visa obtained by air is valid for 3 months for multiple entries, with a maximum stay of 30 days. This visa may be extended while you are in Bahrain, subject to a fee.
With the right documentation and knowledge of the process, obtaining a Bahrain on-arrival visa can be straightforward. Whether traveling by road or air, make sure to plan ahead to enjoy your trip to this beautiful island nation!
