17,389 Illegal Residents Detained by Saudi Security Forces in a Week

In a significant enforcement action, Saudi security forces apprehended a staggering 17,389 illegal residents across various regions in just one week.

This crackdown, conducted from February 20 to February 26, showcases the government’s commitment to upholding the law and maintaining security within the Kingdom.

The Ministry of Interior reported that the arrests were part of coordinated field security campaigns in collaboration with relevant government agencies.

Among those detained, violations of the Residency Law were the most prevalent, with 10,397 individuals found in breach. Additionally, 4,128 were arrested for violating the Border Security Law, while 2,864 were identified as violators of the Labor Law.

The operation also revealed the broader scope of illegal residency issues in the country.

In total, 31,463 violators were referred to their diplomatic missions to secure travel documents, and 10,363 individuals were deported.

Alarmingly, 1,483 people were arrested while attempting to enter the Kingdom illegally, with a significant number coming from Yemen and Ethiopia.

The campaign extended beyond mere arrests; it also targeted those facilitating illegal activities. Fifteen individuals involved in transporting, sheltering, and employing illegal residents were apprehended.

The Ministry of Interior emphasized the severe penalties for anyone caught aiding illegal entry, including potential imprisonment for up to 15 years and fines reaching SR1 million.

As the government intensifies its efforts to regulate residency and labor laws, the public is urged to remain vigilant.
