Dubai: The World’s Cleanest City, Once Again!

Dubai, a city known for its breathtaking skyline and vibrant culture, has once again claimed the title of the world’s cleanest city.

According to the latest Global Power City Index (GPCI) report from Japan’s Institute for Urban Strategies, this remarkable achievement marks the fifth consecutive year Dubai has topped the cleanliness rankings.

A Commitment to Excellence

This accolade is not just a number; it reflects Dubai’s unwavering commitment to sustainability and urban excellence.

With a perfect score of 100% in city cleanliness metrics, Dubai has outperformed over 47 cities globally, showcasing its dedication to maintaining the highest international standards for living and environmental quality.

The Driving Force

Marwan bin Ghalita, the Acting Director General of Dubai Municipality, attributes this success to a collaborative effort between government entities and private sector partners.

He emphasizes that Dubai’s consistent leadership in global rankings stems from an ambitious vision to become the best city in which to live and work.

“Leadership and excellence are built on teamwork, dedication, and an unwavering commitment to the highest standards,” Bin Ghalita states. “Our faith in our teams has established a global benchmark for future cities, defined by innovation, sustainability, and exceptional quality of life.”

Behind the Scenes

The success in cleanliness is a result of the tireless efforts of over 3,200 dedicated individuals—monitors, supervisors, and engineers—who work year-round to uphold the city’s impeccable standards.

The Dubai Municipality oversees a sophisticated cleanliness and sustainability system, operational every day of the year, supported by a fleet of 855 advanced vehicles and machinery.

Dubai’s cleanliness strategy includes a comprehensive range of daily cleaning programs. The teams manage 2,400 kilometers of main roads and highways, cover 1,419 square kilometers of investment zones, and maintain 33.4 kilometers of water canals.

In addition, they address hazardous and medical waste treatment, offer community e-services, and manage the removal of abandoned vehicles.

Looking Ahead

As Dubai continues to set the standard for urban cleanliness, it aligns its efforts with the Dubai Integrated Waste Management Strategy 2041, which aims for an 18% reduction in waste production and 100% diversion of waste from landfills by 2041.

This ambitious plan reflects the emirate’s long-term vision for sustainability and environmental stewardship.

With each passing year, Dubai not only reinforces its position as the cleanest city in the world but also serves as a model for future urban developments across the globe.

The city’s dedication to innovation, sustainability, and quality of life is a testament to its belief that a clean city is not just a goal but a way of life.
