New Rules Issued for Ramadan Iftar Meals at Two Holy Mosques

The General Authority for the Care of the Affairs of the Grand Mosque and the Prophet’s Mosque has issued a procedural guide for obtaining permits to serve iftar meals during Ramadan at the Grand Mosque in Makkah and the Prophet’s Mosque in Madinah.

Key Guidelines for Iftar Meal Permits
Permit Requirements
- Entities wishing to serve iftar meals must be:
- Legally registered and licensed by the relevant authorities.
- Compliant with approved health and Shariah requirements.
- Required to submit an approved iftar meal distribution plan.

Regulations
- Permit holders must adhere to:
- Specified distribution locations.
- Maintain public hygiene.
- Prohibit any advertising or marketing activities while serving meals.
Compliance and Revocation
- The authority reserves the right to revoke permits if conditions are not met. The permit cannot be transferred, and only meals approved by the authority may be provided.
Violations and Penalties
- First Violation: A written warning will be issued.
- Repeat Violation: The permit will be revoked, and the entity will be barred from serving iftar meals for the remainder of the season.
These measures aim to ensure that iftar meal services during Ramadan are conducted in an orderly and respectful manner, in line with the sacred atmosphere of the Two Holy Mosques.
