Tabuk Emir Inaugurates 23 Development Projects Worth SR3.8 Billion

Emir of Tabuk, Prince Fahd bin Sultan, has inaugurated 23 development projects in the sectors of environment, water, and agriculture, valued at over SR3.8 billion. The ceremony, held at the emirate headquarters, was attended by Minister of Environment, Water, and Agriculture, Eng. Abdulrahman Al-Fadley.

  • These projects aim to serve the residents of Tabuk and enhance environmental and water sustainability, aligning with the objectives of the Kingdom’s Vision 2030.

Major Investments

  • Water Projects: The Saudi Water Authority has implemented two major water projects costing over SR2.3 billion, including:
    • Establishment of small desalination plants on the western coast.
    • Increased supply of desalinated water to Duba, Al-Wajh, and Umluj.
  • National Water Company Initiatives: The company has launched 16 projects to improve drinking water distribution and sanitation services in Tabuk, totaling over SR860.6 million.

Environmental Sustainability Efforts

  • The National Water Company has initiated 10 sewage projects costing more than SR551.6 million, aimed at enhancing environmental sustainability and mitigating damage to local ecosystems.

Additional Projects

  • The Saudi Water Partnership Company is constructing the Tabuk 2 wastewater treatment plant, with a capacity of 90,000 cubic meters per day, to utilize treated water for industrial and irrigation purposes.
  • The General Irrigation Authority completed projects to replace well water and mitigate flood risks, costing over SR92 million.
  • The National Center for Vegetation Cover Development is working on projects to cultivate mangrove trees and protect new pastoral reserves in the region for over SR18 million.

Future Developments

  • The foundation stones for 25 additional projects costing more than SR580 million were also laid, including various initiatives by the National Water Company and the General Irrigation Corporation.

This extensive investment in infrastructure and environmental sustainability underscores the commitment of Saudi Arabia to improving the quality of life and supporting the goals outlined in Vision 2030.
