How to Change Your Driving School in Dubai: A Step-by-Step Guide
Are you thinking about switching your driving school in Dubai?
Whether you’re relocating, seeking better service, or finding a more convenient location, the process is straightforward and can be done online through the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) website.

To transfer your training file, ensure you have an active learning permit registered with the RTA. Here’s how to make the change:
- Visit the RTA Website: Go to rta.ae, navigate to the ‘Driver and Car Owner’ section, and select ‘Drivers Licensing.’
- Log In: Click ‘Apply Now’ and sign in using your UAE Pass. Your active learning permit will be detected.
- Update Permit: On your personal dashboard, select ‘Update Driving Learning Permit’ and choose ‘Change Driving Institute.’
- Choose Reason: Select the reason for your transfer, such as relocation or service quality.
- Select New Institute: Choose a different branch of your current school or a new driving school entirely.
- Submit Application: After choosing your preferred institute, click ‘Submit’ and confirm your application.
You’ll receive confirmation from the RTA within one working day, along with an SMS instructing you to visit the new school and pay for your new learning package.
Note that transferring to a different school requires purchasing a new learning package, starting at around Dh2,000, while moving to a branch of the same school incurs no fees.
