How to Know Salik Gates’ Free Times in Dubai

DUBAI, July 29, 2025 – Motorists in Dubai can take advantage of specific free hours at Salik toll gates, allowing them to avoid charges during off-peak times.

While Salik is not free during public holidays or weekends, there are designated hours during the week when drivers can pass through certain gates without incurring fees.

From Monday to Saturday, Salik operates on the following schedule:

  • Peak Hours (6 AM – 10 AM, 4 PM – 8 PM): AED 6
  • Low-Peak Hours (10 AM – 4 PM, 8 PM – 1 AM): AED 4
  • Off-Peak (Free Hours, 1 AM – 6 AM): No charges

On Sundays, a flat rate of AED 4 applies throughout the day, but the free window from 1 AM to 6 AM remains.

During Ramadan, the toll structure adjusts:

  • Peak Hours (9 AM – 5 PM): AED 6
  • Low-Peak Hours (7 AM – 9 AM, 5 PM – 2 AM): AED 4
  • Off-Peak (Free Hours, 2 AM – 7 AM): No charges

Additionally, a helpful rule limits charges when passing through certain gates. If drivers go through Al Mamzar or Al Safa gates in the same direction within one hour, they will only incur a single charge.

Salik, Dubai’s electronic toll system, uses RFID technology for seamless payments. To utilize Salik, drivers must acquire a Salik tag, link it to their account, and maintain a balance for automatic deductions at toll gates.

With ten active Salik gates across major routes, understanding these timings can help motorists save on toll expenses while navigating the city.
