UAE Introduces 4 Types of Residency Visas for Expats to Work

The UAE continues to attract a rapidly growing expat community, now comprising over 9.06 million individuals from 200 countries.

This surge is largely due to recent changes in residency visa regulations and civil law reforms.

Expats in the UAE can apply for one of four types of residency visas that permit them to work in the country:

Green Visa: This five-year self-sponsorship visa is aimed at highly skilled professionals, investors, entrepreneurs, and freelancers. Applicants must meet specific income and educational criteria.
Standard Work Visa: Typically valid for two years, this visa is available for those employed in the private or government sectors, with employers required to sponsor the application.
Golden Visa: A long-term residency option, the Golden Visa offers exclusive benefits, including the ability to sponsor family members and stay outside the UAE for extended periods without losing residency status.
Domestic Worker Visa: Designed to protect the rights of domestic workers, this visa requires sponsors to meet certain financial criteria and ensures compliance with local regulations.

These visas not only facilitate employment opportunities but also enhance the overall living standards for expatriates in the UAE.
