How to Apply for an International Driving License Online in the UAE

Dubai, July 16, 2025 — If you’re planning to drive abroad during your holiday, obtaining an International Driving License (IDL) is essential.

The IDL, an internationally recognized document regulated by the United Nations, allows you to drive in foreign countries.

In the UAE, applying for an IDL is straightforward and can be done online through several platforms:

Ministry of Interior (MOI) Mobile App:
- Download the ‘MOI UAE’ app from the Apple App Store or Google Play Store.
- Log in using your UAE Pass.
- Select the ‘International Driving Licence’ service.
- Enter your nationality, emirate of issue, and license type, then upload a passport-sized photo.
- Pay the fees (Dh170 plus a delivery fee of Dh8.50) and await confirmation via SMS and email.
Dubai’s RTA Website:
- Visit rta.ae and navigate to the services section.
- Search for ‘Apply for an International Driving Licence’ and click ‘Apply Now’.
- Provide necessary details, including your Emirates ID or vehicle information, and upload a photo.
- Pay the applicable fees (Dh177 plus additional charges for delivery options).
Automobile and Touring Club of the UAE (ATCUAE):
- Applications can also be submitted through their website or at one of their centers.

Once submitted, the IDL is typically delivered within one to two weeks, depending on the chosen delivery method.
