Wizz Air Offers Cheaper Travel Than Dubai-Abu Dhabi Taxi

Dubai, July 16, 2025 — Wizz Air has transformed travel affordability for UAE residents, with one-way tickets starting as low as Dh129, often cheaper than a taxi ride from Dubai to Abu Dhabi, which can cost between Dh250 and Dh300.
Many residents have embraced the airline as an economical option for international travel, discovering routes to cities like Baku and other European destinations at prices that allow for spontaneous trips.

Noel Abraham, a Dubai resident, noted that flights often cost him less than a taxi fare to Abu Dhabi Airport. “It was a way to save and still see the world,” he explained.

However, Wizz Air’s recent announcement to cease operations in Abu Dhabi starting September 1, 2025, has left many disappointed. “This was definitely unexpected,” Abraham added, as residents had planned winter getaways using the airline.
Fahim Armar, who took his first vacation post-Covid with Wizz Air, echoed these sentiments, highlighting that the low fares made travel accessible for many. “It wasn’t just about cheap tickets. It was about access to many destinations,” he said.
Muzzammil Sheikh, a taxi driver, also shared his first international trip to Baku, made possible by an affordable round-trip fare of Dh400. “This airline proved that even someone like me could see another country,” he said.
As Wizz Air prepares to end its Abu Dhabi services, residents are left reflecting on the airline’s impact on their travel experiences.
