The ministry identified several violations, including:

  • Use of unlicensed vehicles to transport pilgrims.
  • Providing unauthorized accommodation facilities in Mecca and Medina.

These practices pose significant risks to both pilgrims and visitors, potentially undermining the quality and safety of Saudi Arabia’s expanding tourism industry.

Objectives of the Crackdown

The inspections targeted agencies operating without permits or conducting activities outside their approved scope. The ministry emphasized that the campaign aims to:

  • Protect the rights of tourists and visitors.
  • Enhance the overall quality of tourism services in alignment with the national tourism strategy.

Legal Penalties for Violations

Legal repercussions for violators can be severe, including:

  • Fines of up to SR 50,000.
  • For repeat offenders, penalties may escalate up to SR 1 million, along with possible office closures or other sanctions, depending on the nature of the infraction.

Compliance and Reporting

The ministry urged all tourism operators to adhere strictly to the terms of their licenses and advised the public to engage only with officially authorized agencies to ensure safe and reliable travel experiences.

Tourists and residents are also encouraged to report any violations or complaints related to hospitality services by calling the unified tourism hotline at 930. This initiative reflects the ministry’s commitment to maintaining high standards in the Kingdom’s tourism sector.
