Riyadh Begins Property Acquisition for Major Road Development Projects

The Royal Commission for Riyadh City (RCRC) has officially initiated the property acquisition process for areas that conflict with planned routes of major road development projects in the Saudi capital.

Overview of the Initiative

This initiative is part of the second phase of the city’s Road Corridors Development Program, aimed at enhancing connectivity and transportation infrastructure to meet the needs of Riyadh’s rapidly growing population.

Key Development Sites

The targeted properties are located along several significant development sites, including:

  • Thamaniyah Road
  • Second Eastern Ring Road
  • Prince Mishaal Bin Abdulaziz Road
  • Two parallel bridges to the existing Suspension Bridge
  • Areas related to the planned upgrade of the Western Ring Road and Jeddah Road intersection

Instructions for Affected Property Owners

Property owners impacted by the expropriation are required to submit the necessary documents either electronically or in person at the Roads Implementation Office located on Abdulrahman bin Hassan Al-Qusaibi Street, off Abi Bakr Al-Siddiq Road in King Salman District.

Investment and Goals

The second phase of the program includes eight road development projects with a total investment exceeding SR8 billion.

This effort is part of a larger transport infrastructure upgrade plan spearheaded by Crown Prince and Prime Minister Mohammed bin Salman, who also chairs the RCRC.

The program aims to:

  • Improve inter-district connectivity
  • Enhance traffic efficiency
  • Reduce travel times
  • Accommodate transit flows
  • Facilitate access to Riyadh’s mega projects currently under construction

Previous Phases

The first phase of the program, launched on August 14, 2024, included four major projects with a total investment of SR13 billion. Additional phases are expected to be announced in the coming months.
