Despite common perceptions, recruitment does not come to a halt in the summer. Experts note that while July and August may see delays in interview processes, hiring itself often remains active.
Nikhil Nanda, director of Innovations Group, explains that employers take more time to make decisions during these months, knowing they have time before roles become urgent.
Interestingly, some recruiters report an increase in hiring during summer. Nicki Wilson, executive director at Genie Recruitment, observed a 30% rise in hiring decisions compared to the first quarter of the year.
She emphasized that while key decision-makers may be on vacation, new roles continue to emerge.
Additionally, Paula Jacobson, a people and impact leader at a fast-growing startup, noted a staggering 300% increase in their hiring rate.
She highlighted that although annual leave can cause minor delays, startups often maintain a robust hiring pace.
Overall, while summer may bring some delays, jobseekers are encouraged to stay active in their search. Engaging with recruiters during this period can lead to less competition and greater visibility in the job market.
