The municipality, in coordination with the Dubai Land Department and the General Directorate of Civil Defense, has initiated inspections to address the risks associated with partitioned accommodations.

These partitions, often created to provide affordable housing options, have been deemed unsafe and non-compliant with building regulations.
Officials noted that building owners had been warned about the necessity of adhering to regulations prior to inspections.
The campaign aims to enhance communication with property owners and raise awareness about the dangers posed by unauthorized structural changes.
While partitioned rooms are advertised at prices starting from Dh600 per month, the municipality emphasizes that such modifications endanger resident safety and can impede emergency evacuations.
This initiative is part of Dubai’s ongoing commitment to uphold public safety standards in residential infrastructure and curb unauthorized subletting practices.
Previous crackdowns on illegal partitions have occurred in other emirates, highlighting a broader regional effort to maintain compliance with building laws.
