Details of the Clearance

  • Livestock Breakdown: Among the cleared livestock were 351,427 sheep, processed through the Saudi Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture’s quarantine facility at the Red Sea port of Jeddah.
  • Operational Plan: This effort is part of the ministry’s operational plan for Hajj 2025, ensuring ample supply for the sacrificial season.

The ministry anticipates the arrival of additional shipments in the coming days as part of a project related to sacrificial animals.

Preparedness for Hajj

  • Full Readiness: Saleh bin Dakhil, the ministry’s spokesman, emphasized that all offices in the holy cities of Mecca and Medina have completed their preparations. This includes overseeing private slaughterhouses and public markets.

Significance of Eid Al Adha

During Eid Al Adha, Muslims who are financially able sacrifice animals such as sheep, goats, camels, and cows, commemorating the Prophet Ebrahim’s readiness to sacrifice his son Ismael in obedience to Allah. In recognition of their faith, Allah provided a ram to be sacrificed instead.

This year’s Eid Al Adha is expected to begin on June 6, contingent upon the sighting of the moon for the new Islamic month.
