UAE: No Car or Taxi? Commute Between Dubai and Sharjah by Bus or Ferry

For those without a car or wishing to avoid taxi fares, commuting between Dubai and Sharjah is hassle-free thanks to affordable public transport options.

The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has introduced several intercity bus routes connecting key locations in both emirates.

Bus Routes

As of May 2025, the available bus routes include:

  • E303: Union Square Metro Station to Al Jubail Bus Station
  • E306: Ghubaiba Bus Station to Al Jubail Bus Station
  • E307: Deira City Centre Bus Station to Al Jubail Bus Station
  • E308: Stadium Bus Station to Al Jubail Bus Station

The fare for these bus services is Dh12, with buses operating from 4 AM to 1 AM the following day.

Ferry Service

In addition to buses, commuters can opt for the ferry service, which provides a scenic 35-minute journey between Dubai and Sharjah.

The ferry departs from Al Ghubaiba Marine Station in Dubai to Aquarium Marine Station in Sharjah. Regular tickets cost Dh15, while Gold Class tickets are Dh25.

Timings

  • Weekdays: Various departures from 7 AM to 7 PM
  • Weekends: Limited service from 2 PM to 10 PM
