How to Avoid Jail and Termination for Submitting Fake Documents in UAE Jobs

In Dubai, if an employee submits a forged educational certificate, it constitutes a criminal offense under Federal Law No. (31) of 2021.
According to Article 251 of the UAE Penal Law, forgery involves altering a document’s authenticity with intent to deceive, which includes changing text, numbers, or signatures.

Penalties for forgery can be severe. Article 252 states that forgery of an official document can lead to imprisonment for up to 10 years, while Article 253 imposes up to 5 years for forgery of a non-official document.
Additionally, using a forged document is punishable under Article 258, which aligns with the penalties for the forgery itself.
Submitting fake degrees may also be classified as fraud, allowing for immediate termination under Article 44 (1) of Federal Decree Law No. 33 of 2021, which permits dismissal without notice after a written investigation if forgery is proven.
Employers should consider disciplinary actions, including termination and reporting the incident to the police.
It’s advisable to consult a legal professional to ensure compliance with UAE laws.
