Saudi Arabia Tops in E-Government Services in MENA Region for 3rd Year

For the third consecutive year, Saudi Arabia has secured the top position among Middle East and North African (MENA) countries in the 2024 Government Electronic and Mobile Services Maturity Index, issued by the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia (ESCWA).
Maturity Rate: Saudi Arabia achieved a high maturity rate of 96 percent in the overall assessment.
Digital Government Authority Governor: Eng. Ahmed Alsuwaiyan emphasized that this achievement reflects the strong support for the digital government ecosystem from the leadership, enhancing Saudi Arabia’s international standing.
Progress Since 2020: Saudi Arabia has shown significant progress, moving from fourth place in 2020 to leading the index in 2022, and maintaining its top position in 2023 and 2024.
Improvements in Vital Sectors: Substantial improvements in digital services across sectors like health, education, and smart cities have contributed to this progress.
Electronic Healthcare Solutions: Digital prescriptions, appointment bookings via government platforms, and telehealth services have improved access to healthcare and increased beneficiary satisfaction.
Digital Educational Services: Remote learning platforms and electronic university admissions have enhanced users’ ability to access government services with flexibility and high quality.
Index Performance: Saudi Arabia outperformed 16 countries in the index, which assessed 100 priority government services.
Sub-Indicators: Saudi Arabia achieved:
99% in the Service Availability and Development indicator.
93% in the Service Usage and Beneficiary Satisfaction indicator.
99% in the Public Outreach indicator.
